How to get to Boquete

Many nature lovers and eco-tourists seek out Boquete, Panama when they’ve heard of the amazing opportunities available for fun activities and sights. With poor economies looming all over the world, it’s nice to see one that is doing fine, like Boquete, Panama. So how do you get there?

For starters the country of Panama is located between Costa Rica to the west and Colombia to the east in Central America. Panama City and the famous Panama Canal are located on the eastern end of the country. Boquete, Panama is located at the opposite end of the country to Panama City, and is not far from the border of Costa Rica. David, which is considered Boquete, Panama’s airport hub is also located on this side of the country near Boquete, Panama. Since Boquete, Panama is located on this opposite side of Panama City and the bustling Panama Canal, it has a nice quiet charm to it, but also requires a bit more planning to actually get to Boquete, Panama compared to other parts of the country. Basically, the process usually involves flying into Panama City, then flying to David, or flying directly to David. From David, numerous ground transportation options are available to get from the Airport to Boquete, Panama.

As for flying into Panama City, there are two options: The Tocumen International Airport which is located about 20 miles outside of Panama City. This is most likely where you will enter the country from your current location. A smaller airport geared more towards regional traffic is located just outside of Panama City called the Albrook Airport. This is usually the airport where you will connect to flights to David, and continue on to Boquete, Panama. However, departure times are a bit limited out of Albrook, so it’s wise to plan to spend a night or two in Panama City before continuing your trip to Boquete, Panama. Taxis and shuttles are available from the Tocumen International Airport to Panama City, and to Albrook Airport. You can also take a bus from Panama City to David, then rent a car to take to Boquete. It takes about 7-8 hours from the Albrook Airport. You can also rent a car from Panama City and drive all the way to Boquete, Panama. However, it’s only a one-hour flight from Albrook to David.
